Day 1 - New Delhi

Your India tiger tour begins at New Delhi Airport, where you will be met by our representative, who will help you get to your hotel. The day can be spent in relaxation and gearing up for the action packed tour ahead or spent in exploring the city.

New Delhi, the capital city of India is one of the largest and fastest growing metropolis in the world. It is a bustling city, ever growing and molding itself with the times. The city has a colorful history which is embodied in its monuments, forts and historical places. A visitor can choose to sample the culture of the city in its vibrant markets or taste the Indian cuisine in its numerous eateries. Delhi has something to offer to everyone!

Day 2 - New Delhi to Khajuraho

Today we catch a flight to Khajuraho. It is famous for the unique temple complex of Hindu and Jain temples. These temples are famous for their erotic sculptures, which despite their sensual nature are of great symbolic importance. It is also a UNESCO World Heritage Site. We spend the entire day touring the town and head back to the hotel.

Day 3 - Khajuraho to Bandhavgarh National Park

Bandhavgarh beckons! After an early breakfast, we depart from Khajuraho and travel to Bandhavgarh National Park (approx 4.5 hours drive), where we will be based for the next three nights. We reach sometime in the afternoon and have a delicious lunch. Relax for a while till we leave for a game drive in the park. The game drive will acquaint you with the park's terrain and environment. The park closes at dusk, when we return to the lodge. End your day with a sumptuous dinner and peaceful sleep listening to the jungle sounds!.

Bandhavgarh National Park is best known for having a high density of tigers in India. However, the beauty of its forests also lies in the rich wildlife that lives within it – Leopard, Sambar Deer, Barking Deer and many more.

The park also has a rich variety of birdlife. You are likely to spot beautiful species of Egrets, Hornbills, Kingfishers and Eagles that are endemic to the region.

Day 4 - Bandhavgarh National Park

Our quest for the Tiger in Bandhavgarh continues over the next two days. We maximize our chances of sighting the tiger by going on morning and evening safaris. Apart from the Tiger, the park is home to several other interesting animals. Experience nature at close quarters and learn the law of the jungle!

The next two days in Bandhavgarh we start early at dawn for a morning jeep drive. Watch the mist disappear in the dense sal forests and the deer come out to graze in the morning sun. The early morning drive will whet your appetite for a hearty breakfast back at the lodge. You can relax till after lunch.

Late afternoon we leave on another game drive. This is an ideal time to sight animals in the park as they venture out to the waterholes after facing the heat of the day. Photographers will have umpteen opportunities to click great pictures. We return to the lodge at dusk after the park closes. Relax under the stars and relish an authentic Indian dinner before you retire for the day.

If the elephants are able to track a tiger successfully, you would take a short ride on elephant back for a close look at the Tiger(subject to availability).

Day 6 - Bandhavgarh National Park to Kanha National Park

Today, after an early breakfast we head for Kanha National Park (approx 6 hours drive). We plan to spend the next four nights here. A scrumptious lunch awaits us after check-in at the resort. Relax and unwind in the resort campus till it's time for an afternoon game drive. The game drive will take you through the park's beautiful landscape composed of lush forests and open meadows which are favorite grazing grounds of the Deer and Gaur. We return to the resort at dusk settles in. After a delicious dinner we advise you to get enough rest today as the next three days begin early and are packed!

Kanha National Park is a beautiful reserve that is rich in wildlife. It encompasses lush meadows, thick forests and water bodies. As you enter, the subtle fragrance of the Sal forest and the incessant sound of cicada will captivate you. Kanha is home to the rare hard ground Barasingha or Swamp Deer. You might also see spotted Deer, Sambar Deer, Langurs, Leopards and Dholes (Wild Dogs).

Day 7 - Kanha National Park

Our exploration of Kanha National Park will continue over the next three days. This leg of our journey provides ample time to spot tigers and if you are lucky you can spot many of these majestic animals! The next three days begin with early morning safaris and picnic breakfasts. Dawn is an ideal time to spot birds and other wildlife. Keep a look out for alarm calls and an eye on the Deer and Monkeys! We return to the lodge after an eventful morning safari for lunch.

Relax in the resort before we head into the wilderness once more until dusk. During your stay in Kanha, you will get a taste of the local culture in the form of the foot-tapping Baiga tribal dance.

If the elephants are able to track a tiger successfully, you would take a short ride on elephant back for a close look at the Tiger (subject to availability).

If there is time, we will drive to Bahmni Dadar – the highest point in Kanha. It offers a panoramic view of the entire National park.

Day 10 - Kanha National Park to New Delhi

Today, after a leisurely breakfast, we drive down to to Nagpur airport (approx 6 hours drive) to catch an evening flight to Delhi. Our representative will meet you at Delhi airport and help you get to your hotel.

  • Travel time: Approximately 6 hours drive to Nagpur Airport and 2 hours flight to Delhi
Day 11 - New Delhi

Our journey through Tiger territory ends in New Delhi. If time permits you can spend the final day exploring Delhi before heading for the airport to catch your flight back home. The city has a lot to offer for a tourist right from historic monuments to beautiful gardens to bustling markets!

Moderate - Requires a spirit of adventure and some degree of fitness, as the trip might consist of many activities or long journeys. These adventures involve walking, trekking, hiking, cycling, rafting, sea kayaking, or driving for long hours, at times for up to six to eight hours a day at a steady pace. The maximum altitude is 3000m, so it requires you to be reasonably physically fit. The trips are usually 6 to 12 days in duration.

The ‘Only Tigers’, a 11 day itinerary, is a perfect example of this activity level as it involves long journeys for up to eight hours a day and a bit of walking. Also, ‘Around Spitsbergen - Kvitøya and Beyond ’, a 10 day itinerary is another example of this trip activity level.

You should be reasonably fit because you will be travelling in extreme weather conditions.
Other Activity Levels
Basic - Designed for travellers who enjoy the outdoors, are in good health, and want an interesting yet relaxing wildlife experience. These trips may involve walking, trekking, hiking, cycling, rafting or sea kayaking at a very slow pace. Certain trips involve safari drives for a maximum of five hours a day. Most of these trips are usually a week long in duration.

The ‘Classic Yala Tour’, ‘Kenya Luxury’ and ‘Luxury in Botswana’ itineraries are the best examples of this activity level as you’ll have a relaxed holiday. These trips are mostly about culture and sightseeing. There will be exploring on foot and safaris drives involved as well. Most travellers will find themselves comfortable with the basic activity level trips.
High - Fitness is vital at this level, as the environment traversed may be remote and challenging. These rugged experiences include long walks, trekking, cycling or rafting in isolated areas through variable weather conditions for up to eight to ten hours a day. These trips are usually 13 to 19 days in duration.

The ‘Ultimate Nepal Trekker’, is a good example of this trip activity level as it involves hiking and trekking for up to eight hours a day. Maximum altitude will be 4000m and you need to be very fit in order to withstand the weather conditions. Also, ‘Kilimanjaro Trek- Rongai route’ is another example that applies to this this activity level. Good physical condition is essential and previous hill-walking experience or preparation is advisable.
Advanced - At this level, PlanetWildlife recommends previous experience of the activity involved. These are our most challenging and advanced expeditions. They include long walks, cycling, trekking, hiking or rafting in variable weather conditions for more than ten hours a day. These trips may often be over 3 weeks in duration.

The ‘South Atlantic Odyssey’, a 31-day itinerary, is a perfect example of this trip activity level as it involves sailing for long hours in extreme weather conditions. Also, the ‘Snow Leopard Experience’ itinerary is another example which best suits this activity level. Ascents and descents are over 1000m at altitudes up to 6000m and the climate can be rigorous and challenging. Excellent physical condition and previous mountain trekking experience or appropriate preparation is essential.
