Day 1 - Kathmandu

You will be received by our representative on arrival at Kathmandu airport who will help you settle into your hotel. Be sure to get a good night’s rest as tomorrow we embark on an exciting journey into the wilderness of Nepal!

Day 2 - Kathmandu to Bandipur

In the morning we travel to Bandipur located on top of a hill. To reach our destination we travel a winding highway along the Trisuli river towards Pokhara.

We will be staying at the Old Inn for the next two days, surrounded by stunning landscape, simple fresh food, farms and orange groves. You can absorb the ambiance of the place by taking leisurely walks.

Attractive architecture and the fascinating history of the place help in creating an unforgettable holiday! Do not miss the spectacular one hundred mile pink-tinged skyline panorama before sunrise. It’s worth getting up before dawn to catch the dazzling drama of the skies!

Day 3 - Bandipur

Today we hike to the biggest cave discovered in Nepal, the Siddha Cave. In addition, you can scout around the surrounding woodlands for the typical wildlife of the Nepalese middle-hills.

Day 4 - Bandipur to Ghandruk

In the morning, we take a three hour drive to Nayapul, where we will leave the vehicle and take a short walk to the river. We cross the bridge and hit the trail, from where our six hour trek begins. We start out on a levelled trail for about two hours and reach Shaule Bazaar at a distance of 1135 meters. On reaching the bazaar you can choose to have lunch from the many eateries available here.

The trek post lunch is tougher as we start a seemingly endless climb of stone-paved staircases all the way to Ghandruk. On the way we pass lush greenery, farms and follow the course of the Modi River. Ghandruk, at 1940 meters, has dramatic views of the peaks of Annapurna South, Gangapurna, Hiunchuli and Machhapuchhre.

Day 5 - Ghandruk to Tadapani

Today we trek for about four hours in the morning. The trail begins as soon as we leave Ghandruk. We enter a forest filled with huge, twisted, moss covered Rhododendrons. We continue to trek up the hill until we reach Tadapani (2700 meters). The hike to reach Tadapani is a combination of laborious trekking and gradual climbs. The thick forest is inhabited by Common

Day 6 - Tadapani to Ghorepani

We enter the forest area once again for today’s four hour trek. A rapid descent to a bridge is followed by a 150 meter steep climb through a forest stretch, where we may spot herds of Langurs. Later on we reach Banthanti at 2650 meters where we meet a panoramic view of the peaks. We break our journey for a while before continuing on the trek.

The trail continues along steep steps until we reach another bridge and enter the village of Deurali. We take the winding path, running through Birch and Rhododendron, out of the village. After this, we climb for a brief period and descend until we reach Ghorepani (2750meters).

Day 7 - Ghorepani to Tatopani, Karnali

After the tough climb the previous day, the trail on day seven descends mostly downhill. We trek for about six and half hours. We will see no habitation until we reach Chitre village. The trail is a steep descent cutting through forests of Rhododendron, Birch, Magnolia, with occasional meadows allowing us to stop and stare at the grand view of peaks.

The trail downhill continues to pass through Phalate and Sikha villages. From here, the trail cuts across terraced fields along sections of dense forests, finally dropping us at the basin of Kali Gandaki River. The large village of Tatopani, at 1160 meters, lies just above the banks of Kali Gandaki River.

Day 8 - Tatopani, Karnali to Ghasa

Today we trek for about five hours. We start on a motor track and move on to the eastern flank of Kali Gandaki River. This trail will take you through the lower Najing village and a suspension bridge over Misti River. From here, we follow a winding trail until we reach Kopchepani and then futher to Bhalebas. The lush green high route over Kali Gandaki River takes you to a bridge, crossing which you rejoin the motor-track for a brief stretch to Ghasa (2010 meters).

Day 9 - Ghasa

Day nine is spent exploring the thick riverside forest close to Ghasa. This is an ideal place to spot Wildlife like Vultures, Ghorals and Leopards. You can also find a wide variety of birds here.

Day 10 - Ghasa to Larjung

Today, there is a seven hour trek in store for us. We take the dirt road out of Ghasa and cross the river at Lete. The trail leads you to Chhayo, an open valley. From here, we will climb out of the valley and hit a dirt road, towards the twin villages of Kunjo and Taglung. The dirt road then gradually climbs towards the wetlands of Titi Lake, where a wide variety of birds may be spotted.

After spending some time bird watching, we make our way downhill to the riverside village of Kokethanti. Along the trail, we cross forests of Pine, Cypress and Juniper and emerge on to a motor track. We soon arrive at the place where Boxi Khola and Kali Gandaki River converge. The scenery here is spectacular, with dense slopes, woods, sea-buckthorn bushes, swamps and beautiful migratory birds.

The last stretch of the trail to Larjung, at 2550 meters, cuts across a wide riverbed, which is streaked with interweaving channels, framed by the Nilgiri Peaks above the right bank and has Tukuche Peak, Dhaulagiri and its massive icefall straight ahead!

Day 11 - Larjung

Bhuchharchho and Syokong Lake

Today we will hike for about four hours to the high yak pastures and wetlands of Bhuchharchho and Syokong Lake. These hills are high above the Boxi Khola, where you can bird watch and also view a grander sight of the Nilgiri and Dhaulagiri peaks.

Day 12 - Larjung to Jomsom

Our day begins with a trekking expedition that starts on a motor track until we reach the ancient village of Tukuche, famous for its apple brandy distillery. The estimated time for trekking on day twelve of the tour is about six and a half hours.

We will cross a bridge after covering a short distance to reach the village of Chokhepani. After this we will walk past army training ground to the village of Chhairo. Later we will enter a thinly spread pine forest to a Tibetan Refugee Camp, a cluster of around 70 houses.

From here the trail inclines steeply with the picturesque sight of Marpha village(Apple capital of Nepal), Dhaulagiri and Tukuche peaks rising above the village. We now descend the barely discernible path to meet a bridge which gets you back on the motor-track and further on to Jomsom at 2720 meters.

Day 13 - Jomsom to Pokhara

In the morning, we leave to the airport to board a short flight to Pokhara. You will be received by our representative upon arrival at the airport, who will help you to your hotel. Relax for the rest of the day in the lake city of Pokhara.

Day 14 - Pokhara to Kathmandu

In the morning, we leave to the airport to board a flight to Kathmandu. You will be received by our representative upon arrival at the airport, who will help you to your hotel. The rest of the day may be spent at leisure.

Day 15 - Kathmandu

The last day of the Nepal Wildlife tour is spent at the hotel, after which we leave for the airport to board our flight home.

Activity Level :

For Advanced level tours, we recommend previous experience of the activity involved. These are our most challenging and advanced expeditions. They include long walks, cycling, trekking, hiking or rafting in variable weather conditions for more than ten hours a day. These trips may often be over three weeks in duration. Ascents and descents are over 1000m at altitudes up to 6000m and the climate can be rigorous and challenging. Excellent physical condition and previous mountain trekking experience or appropriate preparation is essential.
