Your Central India wildlife tour starts on arrival at Delhi Airport where our representative will meet you and transfer you to your hotel, Justa Panchsheel Park. We advise you to get adequate rest today because the next few days will be packed with adventure and activity in the land described in Kipling’s famous ‘Jungle Book’!
We take a morning flight to Khajuraho, a town in the Indian state of Madhya Pradesh. The group of monuments at Khajuraho has been declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site and it is one of the most popular tourist destinations in India. Khajuraho has the largest group of medieval Hindu and Jain temple, famous for their erotic sculptures. Despite their sensual nature, these temple engravings are of great symbolic importance and there are many interpretations and stories behind their existence. We spend the day at the temple complex and return to the hotel by the evening.
Today we leave the temple city and drive for about 4 ½ hours to reach Bandhavgarh National Park to begin our tiger tour. Bandhavgarh is best known for having the highest density of Tigers in India. Apart from the Tiger, Bandhavgarh is home to many other animals such as the Leopard, Sambar Deer, Barking Deer and many more. The park has a rich variety of birdlife and you are likely to spot beautiful species of Egrets, Hornbills, Kingfishers, and Eagles that are endemic to this region.
We will reach Bandhavgarh sometime in the afternoon, in time for lunch. After finishing with lunch, we set out for a drive in the National Park. We return to the lodge at dusk, where hot dinner awaits you. We will stay in Bandhavgarh for three nights.
Route: Khajuraho to Bandhavgarh; Travel Time - Approximately 4.5 hours
For the next two days in Bandhavgarh, we will start the day early with a drive to the forest in the morning before breakfast. Dawn is the best time to sight animals and also the forest looks at its best in the morning sunlight. We return to the lodge for breakfast. You can relax till after lunch. After lunch, we will set out on an afternoon game drive and spend the rest of the day exploring the forest and sighting animals. We return to the lodge at dusk.

After an early breakfast, we drive to Kanha National Park, which is about 6-hours by road. Kanha National Park is a beautiful reserve that is rich in wildlife and is perhaps the best-maintained park in India. Kanha is home to the rare hard-ground Barasingha or Swamp Deer. You will also see spotted Deer, Sambar Deer, Langurs, Leopards and Dholes (Wild Dogs).
On arrival at Kanha, lunch will be served after checking in at the lodge. This will be followed by an afternoon game drive in the park. If time permits, we drive to Bahmni Dadar – the highest point in Kanha. If offers a panoramic view of the entire Park. We return to the lodge at dusk and end the day with dinner.
Route: Bandhavgarh to Kanha; Travel time: Approximately 6 hours
Over the next two days at Kanha, we will start the day with an early morning safari. We will carry packed breakfasts. We return to the lodge for lunch. We rest for a while and then we head into the wilderness once more and stay in the forest till dusk. A must-see at Kanha is the Baiga tribal dance, which will be arranged for you. You are sure to enjoy the foot-tapping music and the rhythmic dance movements.
After breakfast, we drive for about 5 hours to reach Pench National Park. The beautiful Pench Tiger Reserve is nestled in the southern part of the Satpura hills and is named after the Pench River, which flows through it. In addition to Tigers, the area is famous for large herds of Gaur (Indian Bison), Chital, Sambar, Nilgai, Wild Dog, and Wild Boar. Lunch will be served on our arrival at Pench, and we will set out on an afternoon game drive to explore the forests of Pench.

We start the day with an early morning game drive in Pench National Park. We will carry packed breakfast with us and plan to return to the lodge only for lunch. After lunch, we go on an afternoon safari into Pench. We return to the lodge only at dusk.

We start our day with a morning drive into the forest. This will be our last game drive for the tour. We return to the lodge for lunch. After lunch, we will head out to Nagpur to board a flight to Delhi. Our representative will meet you at the Delhi airport and assist you in transfer to your hotel in Delhi.
Route: Pench – Nagpur – Delhi
You can spend the final day of your tiger safari holiday exploring Delhi before heading out to the airport to catch your flight back home. It is a huge contrast from the jungles that we have visited in the past few days. Delhi is a vibrant city dotted with several beautiful monuments that are worth a visit. Planetwidlife can arrange a guided tour of the city, on request.

Optional activity: Tour of Delhi
Fitness is vital for this level of activity, as the environment traversed may be remote and challenging. These rugged experiences include long walks, trekking, cycling or rafting in isolated areas through variable weather conditions for up to eight to ten hours a day. These trips are usually 13 to 19 days in duration. Maximum altitude reached will be 4000m and you need to be very fit in order to withstand the weather conditions. Good physical condition is essential and previous hill-walking experience or preparation is advisable.
